The Cuban Missile Crisis had many effects. One of the short-term effects was that the missiles were removed from Cuba, and the United States secretly agreed to take their missiles from Turkey. Furthermore, the United States promised to respect Cuba's territorial freedom. President Kennedy helped to save us all when he sent a message to Khrushchev that he must remove the missiles from Cuba. Khrushchev refused, but replied that if Kennedy removed them from Turkey too, they would have a deal. He made a compromise by doing this and helped to steer us away from an even bigger conflict, nuclear warfare. JFK further saved us because when the government found the missiles, his advisers recommended he attack, but he instead made a naval blockade. This stopped any more supplies and missiles from entering Cuba. The world has taken a sigh of relief after the superpowers reached an agreement ending the threat of nuclear warfare. In conclusion, JFK lead us to safety with the compromises he made in the Cold War and especially the Cuban Missile Crisis.
